Cut your video to any start and end point using a visual timeline — directly in your browser. No app, no watermark, no file upload to any server. Works with MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, and MKV.

Trimming a video sounds like it should take five seconds, but most tools make it much slower than it needs to be. Desktop apps require installation and a full project setup just to cut thirty seconds from the beginning. Online tools that upload your file to a server introduce a wait time that scales with file size and your internet speed. This trimmer processes the cut in your browser — the file loads into the tab, you set the in and out points, and you download the result. Nothing is transmitted over the internet.

The most common use for a video trimmer is removing unwanted parts around the content you actually want to keep. Screen recordings usually have a few seconds of desktop setup before the real content begins. Phone videos shot at events often have a shaky start and an awkward end. Clips from a longer recording need to be isolated before sharing. In each case, the trim is the entire edit — you do not need a full video editor.

The tool uses frame-accurate cutting. You can set the start and end points by dragging handles on the timeline or by typing in exact timestamps. The output is downloaded in the same format as the input file.

How to use it

Three steps, under 30 seconds from upload to download.

  1. 1

    Upload your video

Select or drag any MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, or MKV file. The video loads into the browser timeline for editing.

  2. 2

    Set in and out points

Drag the start and end handles on the visual timeline, or type precise timestamps. A preview lets you verify the exact cut before processing.

  3. 3

    Download the trimmed clip

Click Trim. Processing runs in your browser — no upload. Download the result in the same format as the source.

Questions & answers

Everything you might need to know before using the tool.

Is there a file size limit for trimming?+
No hard limit. The practical limit is your device RAM. Most videos under 2 GB process reliably. For very large files, use a desktop browser rather than mobile.
Does trimming re-encode the video?+
The tool uses stream copy mode when possible, which cuts at keyframe boundaries without re-encoding and is near-instant. For cuts that fall between keyframes, a short re-encode of the affected segment is performed automatically.
Can I trim out a section from the middle of a video?+
The tool trims to a single continuous segment defined by a start and end point. For removing a segment from the middle, trim twice: once to get the first part, once to get the second, then merge using our video joiner.
Is my video uploaded to a server?+
No. All processing runs in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your video never leaves your device.
What output format does the trimmed video use?+
The output uses the same container format as the input. An MP4 in produces an MP4 out. The video and audio codecs are preserved.
