Cookie Policy

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, remember preferences, and measure how content performs. ImageAndPDF.com uses a minimal set of cookies described below.

Cookies We Set Directly (First-Party)

  • Theme preference (imageandpdf_theme): remembers your light/dark mode choice. Set when you toggle the theme. Persistent, expires after 1 year. No analytics. Essential — cannot be disabled.
  • Consent state: remembers whether you have accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so the consent banner does not reappear on every visit. Set on banner interaction. Persistent, expires after 6 months. Essential — cannot be disabled.

Cookies Set by Third-Party Subprocessors

The following vendors set cookies on your device when their service is active. Each row links to that vendor's own privacy policy where you can read full cookie details and opt out.

  • Google Analytics 4Aggregate anonymous usage analytics (page views, time on page, source/medium). (United States (Mountain View, CA) with regional EU edge proxies.). Privacy policy ↗

Google AdSense. AdSense is currently not active in production (pending re-approval). When enabled, Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices. See Google's policy on partner sites for details.

Advertising policy & placement controls

When AdSense is active, we enforce two layers of placement controls so ads do not appear in inappropriate contexts:

  • Pre-consent gate (EU/UK/CH and similar regions): Google Consent Mode v2 is configured with default ad_storage:'denied', ad_user_data:'denied', and ad_personalization:'denied' set in the page <head> before any Google tag fires. AdSense respects these signals and serves non-personalized ads (or none) until you explicitly accept via the consent banner. Your choice is persisted in localStorage(cookie-consent-v1) and restored on subsequent visits.
  • Exclusion zones: the upload dropzone, processing overlay, error panel, and result/download panel of every tool page carry data-no-auto-ads="true" and data-no-adsense="true" attributes so Google Auto Ads cannot place inventory inside or visually adjacent to the primary action. The site owner additionally configures URL-pattern exclusions in the AdSense dashboard for all/pdf/* and /image/* tool pages above the fold.
  • No ads on policy/trust pages: /privacy, /terms,/cookie-policy, /security, /dmca, /disclaimer, /editorial-policy, and /contact are excluded from ad serving entirely.

Managing Cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block third-party cookies entirely. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site (theme preference, consent state). Where required by law (EU/UK/CH), we request your consent via the banner before setting any non-essential cookie.
