Email images need to be the right pixel width for inline display and a reasonable file size for attachments. This free tool resizes any image to the standard 600px email template width or any other dimension, and reduces file size to under 500 KB, so your emails load fast and don't get rejected.

HTML email templates are typically 600 pixels wide. Embedding a 4000px-wide image forces the email client to scale it down, but the full-size image is still downloaded, causing slow load times for recipients. Resizing the image to 600px before embedding it keeps your email snappy.

For attachments, keeping images under 1 MB prevents Gmail's 25 MB limit from being hit on multi-image emails. This tool handles both use cases in one step.

How to use it

Three steps, under 30 seconds from upload to download.

  1. 1

    Upload your image

Drop any JPG, PNG, or WebP. The file is processed in your browser.

  2. 2

Set width to 600px (or your template width)

Enter 600 for the width and leave height empty to scale proportionally. For attachments, set a lower quality to reduce file size further.

Download and embed in your email template or attach to your email.

Questions & answers

Everything you might need to know before using the tool.

What width should email images be?+
The standard HTML email width is 600 pixels. At this width, images are legible on desktop email clients and scale down cleanly on mobile. Some modern templates use 640 pixels, but 600 is the safest universal choice.
What file size should email images be?+
For inline (embedded) email images, under 100 KB per image is ideal. For attachments, keep each image under 1 MB to stay well within Gmail and Outlook's attachment limits.
Should I use JPG or PNG for email images?+
Use JPG for photos, it produces much smaller files than PNG at similar visual quality. Use PNG only when you need transparency or the image contains text or sharp lines (logos, infographics).
