Max 200 MBAccepted: PDF

Printing a document to sign it and scan it back is unnecessary friction. This free PDF signing tool lets you add your signature directly to any PDF, draw it with your mouse or finger, type it in handwriting style, or upload an existing signature image. The signed PDF downloads instantly and is indistinguishable from one signed in Adobe Acrobat.

Signing a PDF doesn't require software or a subscription. The entire process runs in your browser in under a minute: upload the PDF, create your signature using whichever method suits you, position it on the page, and download the signed document. The signature is embedded as a vector image in the PDF, it looks sharp at any zoom level and prints cleanly.

There are three ways to create your signature. Drawing with a mouse or touchscreen gives you the most natural look, this works especially well on a phone or tablet where you can use your finger. Typing lets you choose from several handwriting-style fonts if you want a consistent look across documents. Uploading an image lets you use a photo or scan of your actual physical signature.

For contracts, rental agreements, offer letters, permission slips, and other documents where you need to sign and return, this tool handles the full workflow without printing, without a scanner, and without installing anything.

Questions & answers

Everything you might need to know before using the tool.

Is a digitally-drawn signature legally binding?+
In most jurisdictions, electronic signatures are legally valid under laws like ESIGN (USA), eIDAS (EU), and similar frameworks in most countries. However, certain document types (wills, certain real estate transactions) may require wet signatures. When in doubt, consult the party requesting your signature.
Can I sign with my finger on mobile?+
Yes. The drawing pad is touch-compatible. On a phone or tablet, use your finger or stylus to draw your signature naturally.
Can I add my initials as well as my signature?+
Yes. You can add multiple signature elements to a PDF, place your full signature on the signature line and initials anywhere else on the document.
What if the signature line is not where I clicked?+
After placing the signature, drag it to reposition. Use the resize handles to adjust the size. Click elsewhere to deselect.
Does the signature get embedded into the PDF permanently?+
Yes. The signature is baked into the exported PDF as a vector image. It cannot be removed from the file without specialized software.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?+
You need to unlock the PDF first. Use the Unlock PDF tool to remove the password, then sign it.
Is there a file size limit?+
PDFs up to 200 MB are supported. Processing runs entirely in your browser, no upload.
