Most PDF tools let you annotate around a document but not edit the actual content. This editor lets you click directly on existing text in the PDF and change it in place, correcting a date, fixing a typo, updating an address, then export a standard PDF. You can also add new text boxes, draw shapes, insert images, and highlight content.

The difference between annotating a PDF and editing one matters when the change needs to be part of the document rather than sitting on top of it. Annotations are a layer, visible, searchable separately, removable. Editing replaces the underlying content. When you need to update a contract date, change a name, or fix a number in a form, you need actual text editing, not a sticky note.

This editor handles both. Edit mode lets you click existing text and modify it in place. The text cursor appears directly in the document content. When you change a word, the original text is replaced using a whiteout-then-redraw approach that keeps the surrounding document intact. Add Text mode lets you place new text boxes anywhere on the page, useful for filling in fields on a form that was not created with form fields.

The annotation tools (drawing, shapes, images, highlighting) layer on top of the PDF content without modifying the underlying text. Both text edits and annotations export cleanly into the final PDF, which downloads as a standard PDF file that opens in any PDF viewer.

Questions & answers

Everything you might need to know before using the tool.

Can I edit any PDF with this tool?+
You can edit text in PDFs that were created digitally (from Word, Google Docs, etc.). Scanned PDFs store text as images, the Edit mode will not find clickable text in those. For scanned PDFs, use the Add Text or annotation tools to add content on top.
Will the font match when I edit existing text?+
The editor detects the font family of the text you click and tries to match it. Standard fonts (Helvetica, Times New Roman, Courier) match well. Custom or embedded fonts may fall back to a similar substitute.
Can I add images to a PDF?+
Yes. Switch to the Image tool in the left sidebar, then click anywhere on the page to insert an image. Resize and reposition it by dragging.
Can I draw on a PDF?+
Yes. The Draw tool lets you freehand draw on the PDF in any colour and stroke size. The Highlighter tool draws semi-transparent colour strokes for highlighting text.
Is there a file size limit?+
The editor handles PDFs up to 200 MB. Very large PDFs may take a moment to load. Processing runs locally in your browser.
Can I edit multiple pages?+
Yes. Navigate between pages using the page controls or the right-side thumbnail panel. Edits on each page are saved when you navigate away and included when you export.
Does this work on mobile?+
Yes. The editor is touch-compatible. On a phone or tablet, use your finger to tap text for editing and drag to position elements.
