What is the ideal image size for Instagram Stories?+

Instagram Stories display at 1080×1920 pixels (9:16 aspect ratio). The minimum size is 500×889 pixels. For the sharpest result, upload at 1080×1920. The maximum file size for image Stories is 30 MB.

What happens if I post a landscape photo to Instagram Stories?+

Instagram fills the remaining vertical space with a blurred version of your photo as a background, and your photo appears smaller in the center. Resizing to 1080×1920 before posting fills the entire screen edge-to-edge.
