The 60-second walkthrough

1. Open the free Receipt Generator.
2. Type your business name and address in the left panel — your logo is optional.
3. Add the customer name. An email is optional but useful if you plan to send the file.
4. Add line items. The total updates as you type.
5. Pick a payment method (Cash, Card, Bank Transfer, UPI, PayPal, Other) and a status (Paid, Pending, Refunded).
6. On the right panel, choose a template. The Standard, Modern, and Detailed templates print on A5 paper. The POS template is an 80mm thermal-style receipt for cash registers.
7. Click Download PDF. The file is saved as {your receipt number}.pdf.

Picking the right template

Most small businesses can stick with Standard for client work, Modern for a green accent that matches a brand, and POS for cash sales at the counter. The Detailed template adds a tax line and a clear status pill — useful for B2B work where the buyer needs the breakdown for their bookkeeping.

What goes on a valid receipt?

A receipt should include a unique number, the date, your business name and contact details, the customer name, a line-item breakdown, the subtotal and tax, the total, and the payment method. The Receipt Generator already includes every one of these fields. If you sell in a regulated category — alcohol, fuel, regulated services — check whether your jurisdiction requires extra fields like a tax ID or licence number.

Sending the receipt
